Terms & Conditions

Lesson Fees:

Course fees for group lessons and private lessons (1:1 or 1:2) vary depending on the location. For specific fees, please contact the Swim School Academy office directly.

All fees must be paid in advance of the course start date, as detailed on your invoice. Swimmers will not be permitted to participate in lessons until all fees are paid in full.

Fees may be paid in accordance with arrangements agreed with the office. Any bank charges incurred by Swim School Academy as a result of returned or rejected payments will be charged to the customer at a rate of £20.00.

Direct Debit Payments:

Where you have signed up to pay by GoCardless Direct Debit, you will be sent an email invoice when re-enrolment is due, confirming the course fee and payment date.

A few days before the Direct Debit is collected, GoCardless will send a final notification confirming the amount and date of collection. This is your final opportunity to contact us if you wish to make changes to your enrolment.

Once the Direct Debit is within the collection period, it may no longer be possible to cancel the payment and we will not be able to refund the payment once collected, except where otherwise required by law.

If you wish to cancel your Direct Debit instruction with your bank, please also contact Swim School Academy directly to confirm cancellation of your lessons. If you have more than one child registered on the same Direct Debit and only wish to cancel one child’s lessons, you must contact Swim School Academy directly so that the correct payment arrangement can be amended.

Cancellations:

Weekly Courses:

If you wish to cancel a booking before your first lesson, you may do so by contacting us in writing.

Where cancellation is received before the first lesson, tuition fees paid will be refunded less a 20% administration charge.

Once a course has commenced, we do not offer refunds, credits or transfers to alternative days or times for lessons that a swimmer is unable to attend for any reason.

Crash Courses and Trial Lessons:

Crash course swimming lessons and trial lessons are non-refundable and non-transferable.

No refunds, credits or alternative lessons will be provided for missed crash course or trial lessons.

Medical Conditions and Individual Needs:

Swim School Academy cannot accept responsibility for a swimmer’s medical condition or additional needs unless full details have been disclosed to the office by the swimmer, or by the parent or guardian where the swimmer is a child.

Any relevant medical condition, disability, additional need or change in circumstances must be disclosed at the time of registration or as soon as it becomes known during a course of lessons.

Valuables:

Swim School Academy accepts no liability for the loss of or damage to personal belongings brought to any swimming session.

Customers are therefore advised not to bring valuable items to lessons and should ensure that all personal belongings are collected before leaving the pool or changing rooms.

Attendance:

Swimmers, parents, guardians, siblings and all other accompanying persons must comply with the venue’s entry requirements and all rules and regulations while on the premises. Facility staff retain the right to refuse admission.

Swimmers should arrive poolside no more than 5 minutes before the start of their lesson.

Children must be collected from poolside as soon as their lesson has finished. Children will not be released until collected by an appointed responsible adult.

Where parents or guardians are permitted to remain poolside, the responsible adult must remain within the venue for the duration of the lesson.

If a swimmer fails to attend a lesson, or is refused permission to attend a session by the venue or Swim School Academy, no refund, credit or catch-up lesson will be provided, unless a prior agreement has been made with the Swim School Academy office.

Teachers and Cover Teachers

Swim School Academy will make every reasonable effort to provide consistency of teaching staff; however, specific teachers cannot be guaranteed and may change from term to term.

All Swim School Academy teachers are appropriately qualified swimming teachers, including Swim England or STA qualifications.

Where a regular teacher is unavailable due to illness, holiday, training, personal circumstances or any other reason, Swim School Academy may provide a suitable cover teacher to ensure that lessons can continue as scheduled.

The use of a cover teacher, or a change of teacher during a course, does not constitute grounds for a refund, credit, transfer or cancellation of lessons.

Behaviour

Swimmers, parents, guardians, siblings and other accompanying persons are expected to behave respectfully and appropriately towards Swim School Academy staff, other swimmers, parents, venue staff and other members of the public.

If a swimmer, parent, guardian, sibling or other accompanying person refuses to follow an instruction from a member of staff, behaves in an aggressive, threatening, abusive or unruly manner, or causes damage to the pool premises, furniture, fixtures or equipment, Swim School Academy reserves the right to terminate the booking with immediate effect.

In such circumstances, no refund or credit will be provided and the swimmer may not be accepted for future courses organised by Swim School Academy.

Condition of Pool Premises

Swim School Academy will make all reasonable efforts to ensure that the pool premises, including changing rooms, washing facilities, pool and poolside areas, are suitable for the delivery of swimming lessons.

Swim School Academy is not responsible for defects or conditions within premises that are owned or operated by third parties. Any claim arising directly from a defect or condition of the pool premises should be addressed to the proprietor or operator of those premises.

Transmission of Infections

Any swimmer known to be, or found to be, suffering from an infectious illness or condition must not attend swimming lessons until they are fit to do so.

It is the responsibility of each swimmer, or the parent or guardian of a child swimmer, to ensure that they are fit and well enough to participate in swimming lessons.

Swim School Academy cannot guarantee that swimmers will not come into contact with infectious illnesses or conditions while attending lessons and accepts no responsibility for infections or illnesses acquired from other swimmers or persons attending the pool.

Rules and Regulations

• All swimmers must shower before entering the pool.
• Children aged 8 years and above must use the appropriate sexed changing facilities. Adults must not enter changing facilities designated for the opposite sex.
• Swimmers must wear bathing caps where required by the pool or venue for hygiene, health or safety reasons.
• No swimmer may enter the pool area unless a member of Swim School Academy staff is already present.
• No food or drink is permitted within the pool facilities, except where specifically authorised.
• Swimmers, siblings, parents and guardians must comply with Swim School Academy’s no-smoking policy at all pools and venues.
• Outdoor shoes must not be worn on poolside. If you need to speak to a swimming teacher on poolside, you must remove your shoes and socks or use the shoe covers provided before entering the poolside area. This requirement forms part of Swim School Academy’s health and safety policy.
• No recording, filming or photography is permitted in any of our pools, changing rooms or poolside areas. This includes the use of mobile phones or other devices with camera facilities. This requirement forms part of Swim School Academy’s safeguarding and child protection procedures.

Responsibility for Lessons

Swim School Academy and the pool owners cannot accept responsibility for incidents arising solely from circumstances outside their reasonable control or from the actions of a swimmer, parent, guardian or other person attending the premises.

Any concerns regarding the conduct or delivery of a lesson should be reported to the Swim School Academy office as soon as possible so that they can be investigated appropriately.

Agreement to Terms and Conditions

By booking or continuing to attend a swimming course with Swim School Academy Fareham LLP, you confirm that you have read, understood and agree to comply with these Terms & Conditions.

Swim School Academy Fareham LLP reserves the right to amend these Terms & Conditions where reasonably necessary. Where changes materially affect existing bookings, customers will be notified.
